NSEB 2026 results, cutoff, MAS & MI

Understand NSEB result status and the difference between MAS, MI and actual INBO selection.

Updated 20 October 2026

NSEB 2026 result status

The examination is scheduled for 22 November 2026. As of 20 October, no result or numerical 2026 cutoff was available in the sources checked.

HBCSE says INO selected-student lists will be published on IAPT by 15 January 2027. Treat any predicted cutoff as an estimate, not an official qualification decision.

MAS and MI explained

For each group, let the top-ten average be T. The Minimum Admissible Score (MAS) is the integer floor of 50% of T. The Merit Index (MI) is the integer floor of 80% of T.

Illustration only: if a group’s top-ten average were 180, its MAS would be 90 and MI 144. These are examples, not the NSEB 2026 cutoffs.

Reaching MAS is a prerequisite, not automatic selection. MI qualifies under the merit clause, while state/UT representation, minimum numbers, ties and supernumerary provisions also affect selection.

Why a single “cutoff” can mislead

The programme separates Group A (Class XII) and Group B (Classes X/XI), with group-specific calculations. Check your official group and the actual selection list rather than comparing a raw score with an old number.

Answer-key updates

Use the final key when released, matching the paper code. If a provisional key is followed by a challenge window, follow the official procedure and dates. No 2026 challenge deadline was confirmed during this check.
